The TK21 Salt Detection Test Kit helps identify salt residues—such as from seawater or road salt—on metal products. These residues can accelerate corrosion and cause damage to the metal.

With the included 15 ml dropper bottle, you can perform approximately 100 tests.

How to perform this test

The test is simple. Using the dropper bottle (15 ml), you can apply a few drops of the silver nitrate solution to any type of metal. If chlorides are present – such as sea salt or road salt – the solution will react with them and produce a milky white colour.

If chloride ions are present—such as from seawater or road salt—the solution reacts and forms a milky white drop of liquid, indicating salt contamination.
